There have been several tutorials and questions on internet that shows how to reset the security locking code of your Nokia Symbian Phones. But honestly speaking, non of the tutorial works. Because, most of them keeps talking about Master Code security code which really does not work in every phone.

The technique behind Master code is that, every phone has unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and with the help of this number, a specific software will calculate your so called master code. This might work in some phone but not always. Because how can you be so sure about that the Master Code generated is the correct one? If it has been the straight right security code then there won’t be any use of security code. Because, Lock codes and master codes are meant for security purpose in case if it’s stolen or lost some where.

Therefore this might not be much practical. The good thing you can do is, contact the authorized service center to have your code reseted. If you don’t want to do that then still you have a choice left. That is, you’ll have to hack the phone. Don’t worry with the term ‘hack’ we’ll do nothing like hacking.
We’ll use a backdoor to reset the security code. This might be illegal, but can be helpful if you badly need it.

Here is how you do it.

First of all download the security code hack patch from here.
Once you have downloaded it extract it with your favorite unzipper. Now reate a new folder ‘Recogs‘ in your desktop.

New Recogs folder in desktop

Once it has been created, copy the THC-NOKIA-UNLOCK.MDLfile from the extracted file to Recogs folder.

Drag or copy the file to Recogs folder

Now take out the memory card from your Nokia phone and plug it in to you card reader and open it from my computer.

Open your card from my computer

Once you open go to System folder. If it is not there then don’t worry it is hidden folder. To go to System folder, type ‘system‘ next to your card location as shown in the image below (in this tutorial the drive letter for the memory card is H:).

Type-in system to go to system folder

Instantly you’ll be inside system folder.

The System folder

Once you are inside the system folder copy the Recogs folder from desktop to the system.

Recogs folder being copied to system folder

Finally when it’s copied, eject your memory card and insert it to your phone which you want to unlock. Once you insert the memory card, it will automatically start the unclocker file and resets the Locking code.

Once it succesfully resets your Locking code, it will prompt a message on white screen with, ‘Press a Key’.
Press any key and your code is rested to 12345. Now you can change it any time.

Thats it, you are done. No need of any electronic device, no need of any data cards no need of any complicated and insecure software and the phone is yours again.

It's shaping up to be super-phone season. Two dual-core behemoths, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the LG Optimus 2x, led the way for a little something called the iPhone 4. And it only gets better with HTC's Sensation, just launched, which also features a dual-core processor and the latest version of their Android skin - HTC Sense 3.0 - combined with the goodness of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Hardware and Styling

HTC calls the Sensation a super-phone and whatever we have seen of the device definitely lives up-to its 'super-phone' billing. The large 4.3 inch Super LCD display has a starring role, boasting of a qHD resolution of 960x540 protected by Gorilla glass. The device features very traditional HTC design, which is quite mundane, but in spite of this it gives us an immense sense of quality thanks to its sturdy uni-body construction. There are four touch based Android controls on the bottom end of the display and the 1.3 megapixel front facing camera on the top end. HTC has also elevated the overall chassis from the display, providing an extra layer of protection for those users who'd like to rest the device on the display.

The rear of the device houses the 8-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, but this is just the tip of the ice-berg as the whole battery compartment comes with a tri-colored cover made up of a rock solid plastic composite.

Multimedia

First up is the 8-megapixel camera which has a dual-LED flash and is also capable of shooting 1080p video at 30 frames per second. HTC has been gloating about the camera's speed with a quick shoot functionality baked in to the camera. This, however, is not new and these features have been seen before on other devices. The main problem is that HTC claims it is very fast but, in our opinion, the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S2 have faster shutter speeds.

Unfortunately, this experience was also somewhat inconsistent, as the device would refuse to play High Definition (HD) Divx video but managed to play HD Mpeg-4 videos very smoothly.

Essential Apps

HTC always packs their devices with their own apps and the Sensation is no different. Besides these, we also get the standard suite of Google apps such as Maps, Gmail, Latitude, YouTube, and Search.

HTC has packed in their acclaimed social network aggregator 'Friend Stream' which collects all social networking info, Email info and messages in one interface. This one leads the social aggregators' pack and even bests Samsung's Social Hub.

HTC also provides us standard Facebook and Twitter apps, which do the needful. Nothing special here, but none the less very important to have, specially for those people who don't like all their information in one interface.

HTC has, as usual, put in their Weather application, which has some very cool animations. But apart from this, it does little to improve functionality, but then again it was pretty polished from the beginning.

HTC has included an upgraded Email application, which offers Microsoft Exchange access. This application is not the standard Email app, which ships with Android. HTC has made some subtle enhancements which improve usability.
The phone itself is like an expensive piece of jewellery. The gorgeous 'Retina Display' and the home button dominate the front. The sides are tapered with a steel band, which also doubles as the dreaded antenna, which caused the infamous iPhone death grip issue which was causing call drop outs in the US.

On the right side is the micro-sim port while on the left Apple has provided the redesigned volume buttons (previously a volume rocker) and the mute button. The top of the device is home to the 3.5mm port and the power button while the bottom houses the 30 -pin connector slot.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Interface<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">

The iPhone is home to the simplest smartphone OS in the industry, the iOS. So simple to use is the iOS that this reviewer's eighty-year-old grandfather dumped his laptop for the iPad, which also uses the iOS.

The home screen of the iOS provides a wall full of all the applications installed on the device. There is also a Mac OSX like dock which allows four apps to be opened simultaneously and which can be customized by each user. Just swipe towards the right to reveal the other apps. Unlike other operating systems there is no menu button to reveal all the apps, the apps are just there.

This user interface works since it has no learning curve, making the iPhone a plug and play device for novices.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">There are no widgets in iOS. This is a disadvantage as one has to no way of viewing information without entering an app - cue the Weather and Stock apps. On Android, widgets act as shortcuts and provide considerable information. Similarly, the tile interface on Windows Phone provides similar access to information.

iOS, in its current form, has a fairly bad notifications system which is very intrusive in nature. For example, with news app open in the background while playing Angry Birds, the app will flash the notification right in the middle of the screen pausing the gameplay. This happens even if the user does not want to view the notification. Fortunately, iOS 5 - which was shown off at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference in June - will have a revamped Android like notifications system along with other goodies.

The onboard keyboard is the best virtual keyboard on the market. Keys are well spaced and OS provides brilliant auto correction abilities.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Multimedia<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">

The iPhone is the home to the world's best MP3 player, the iPod. There is simply no arguing with this statement. It is definitely a multimedia leviathan.

Like all iOS devices, this contains a movie player too. But, the biggest disadvantage of this app is its lack of support for popular video formats. One has to go through a lengthy conversion process for videos.

The 3.4-inch display boasts of a 960x640 resolution, which is currently the highest among all smartphones. It even has an astounding pixel count of 326 PPI through which it gets its Retina moniker.

Apple has upgraded the camera of the iPhone with a 5-megapixel OmniVision sensor. The images are very vibrant and the color reproduction is very impressive.

As far as 720p video recordings go, the iPhone is right on par with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and the Nokia N8.

Another feature, which makes the iPhone a multimedia monster, is its 16GB and 32GB memory capacities. 16 GB should be enough for most but media gobblers would appreciate the 32GB capacity. Unfortunately, we don't get a memory card slot for expansion.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Performance<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">

At launch, the iPhone 4 knocked the wind out of the competition with its blistering performance. This was possible because of the A4 processor, which is clocked at 1GHz and a meaty 512MB of RAM. We are told that Apple has under-clocked the A4 processor to 800 MHz, but it still scorches. Even today, in comparison to dual-core NVidia Tegra powered smartphones, the iPhone 4 feels like a screamer.

This is inherently because Apple develops its own software and hardware. The software is always in tune with the hardware, which helps Apple derive more performance from lesser hardware. The same cannot be said about the modern Android Smartphones, as all Android phones don't have a standardized hardware spec.

The call quality of the Airtel iPhone can be best described as average. We haven't really faced the now legendary 'death grip' issues but its still not the best calling experience. This could be a combination of factors involving the network and the Phone.

The iPhone surprised us with an impressive battery life which lasted a day, which include constant 3G or Wi-Fi, Web browsing and phone calls while playing multiple games. It was very impressive and easily bested the Android competition.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Price:<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Price tag starting at Rs 34,500 for the 16Gb version and a ridiculous Rs 40,500 for the 32 GB.

It seems that for its latest gem, Nokia really cared about the phone hardware unlike what it used to do with its previous high end phones.

The all new N9 announced last week got really good, in fact best hardware specs as compared to other Nokia high end phones available. But still not upto the mark as it doesn’t even reach near to what current generation phones of other companies are offering. Here is a short discussion what Nokia is offering with its N9.

Nokia N 9 Hardware
Nokia brought 1GHz CPU this time with Cortex A8 CPU, along side it comes with 1GB of RAM. That’s pretty old combo and was blooming last year and this year getting this combo is no brainier. There’s no dual-core antics and the single core is pretty weak, but is good if you look at the OS running on it.

The screen size has been increased a bit i.e 0.4inches and the new player comes with 3.9inch screen with same AMOLED display panel as that of Nokia N8. The display resolution is rapidly increased to 480 x 854 pixels.

Its obviously big in dimensions than N8 and has dimensions of 116.5 in height, 61.2 in width and 12.1 in depth. Wireless connectivity includes 3G support up to 14Mbps, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.

Unlike the N8, its not totally camera featured. This time the camera is reduced to 8 Megapixels which supports resolution of 3264×2448 pixels carried with auto focus as well as LED Flash. Yes, there’s also a secondary camera. Video recording still supports only 720p clippings at 30fps.

Phone is available in two storage option (internal storage) 16GB and 64GB there is no 32GB option and neither facility for installing additional microSD card for extra storage. That means, its iPhone here the internal memory is the final one.

Software
The phone comes with MeeGo OS v1.2 (Harmattan) looks similar to Symbian Anna but still no idea regarding that, time will clear everything.

Multimedia capabilities
The MeeGo OS loaded on N9 supports MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA/FLAC for audio playback and MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player for video playback. Along with that it comes with pre-loaded games like Angry Birds Magic (NFC), Galaxy on Fire 2, Real Golf 2011.

Battery Life
It comes with 1450mAh battery but as we didn’t get the hands-on battery performance we will clear the reports later but as stated by Nokia it provides Up to 380 (2G) and Up to 450h (3G) when on standby and Up to 11h (2G) and Up to 7h (3G) for talktime.

Conclusion
Nokia N9 looks similar to iPod Nano 6G, yes that’s small actually. Buying the phone right now won’t make any extra ordinary decision. The phone has old hardware which I used to review last year, even the camera is low and supports only 720p recordings. The storage options are really bad, 32GB was must option to be added. Plus its not going to hit India soon and only supports micro SIM card.Sharan Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06646442569411824786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9111000573835865776.post-51615518725955068612011-07-05T10:39:00.000-07:002011-07-05T10:39:47.321-07:00BSNL FREE CALLING With FRENDZZ at 20 p/min
THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAD PURCHASED A FRENDZ AND FAMILY SIM ONE YEAR AGO. Redsn0w is basically a lightweight, multi-platform jailbreaking, unlocking and customizing tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 1G, iPod touch 2G, and iPod touch 3G. This release of Redsn0w is specially targeted towards iPhone 3G users and iPod Touch 2G folks, waiting to jailbreak their devices on iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2 Beta.

it is also important to mention that Redsn0w actually upgrades your baseband while jailbreaking so ultrans0w unlock might now simply work. People relying on carrier unlock after jailbreak are requested to stay away from this build until there is a clear go ahead from Dev Team through their blog post.
According to the official Dev Team Blog, couple of exploits namely Limera1n along with some other have been integrated within the package, making it the most powerful custom firmware iDevice jailbreak tool to date.

The jailbreak is untethered and categorically works on:

iPhone 4

iPhone 3G

iPhone 3GS

iPad [3.2.2 Firmware]

iPod Touch 3G

iPod Touch 4G

Apple TV 2

This is what the Dev Team has to about the PwnageTool 4.1

PwnageTool allows you to restore to a custom IPSW file. For instance, you can restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware while simultaneously maintaining your current baseband (and thus your ultrasn0w carrier unlock). You can also add whatever packages you want in the “Expert” mode of PwnageTool, if you wish to pre-install Cydia packages. iPhone 3G users get the additional benefit of selecting their own boot and recovery logos, and features like multitasking and battery charge percentage.

PwnageTool’s main advantage to ramdisk-based methods (limera1n, greenpois0n, redsn0w) is for unlockers — those that need to keep their current baseband and preserve their ultrasn0w unlock. But in this new age of both bootrom- and userland-based exploits, it’s an excellent platform for continuing the jailbreak through all future firmwares. More on this later! In the meantime, please enjoy this free software and please provide any usage feedback in our comment section below…

The above statements clearly indicates that all those folks who rely on a carrier unlock are welcome to use this tool in order to jailbreak their iPhone 4, iPhone 3G and 3GS.

This tool, unlike previous releases, preserves the device’s baseband which is unlockable with Ultrasn0w.

PwnageTool, for now, is intended for MAC users only and we expect a non-mac version to make it out soon too.
The team was heartbroken and left with two choices, either use the SHAtter bootrom exploit and implement Geohot’s bootrom exploit which was used in Limera1n, or go ahead and burn two bootrom exploits at once by releasing GreenPoison.

Burning two bootrom exploits at once means Apple will patch them quickly, thus slowing down future jailbreaks. So the team went with the decision to implement SHAtter bootom exploit instead. Today Greenpoison is out with this exploit which jailbreaks the following devices:

iPhone 4 / iPhone 3GS

iPod Touch 4G / iPod Touch 3G

iPad

As of now only Windows version of Greenpois0n is available. Mac version will be out soon.
In the world of iPhone jailbreak and unlocking, two terms that often come up are tethered and untethered. While experienced users are already pretty familiar with what this means, it often boggles down novice users who are new to the jailbreak frontline. In this article we’ll explore what these term mean, why some jailbreaks are tethered, what are the advantages and disadvantages, and what is the current status of iOS devices when it comes to jailbreaking.
WHAT IS TETHERED JAILBREAK?

Tethered literally means ‘attached’, and this is exactly what these kinds of jailbreaks are. In definition terms, a tethered jailbreak is one in which a jailbroken device cannot reboot (not from standby, but from complete power off) unless it is attached to a computer. Such a device, if powered off, will go into recovery mode (or recovery loop) infinitely when rebooted unless it is attached to a computer and the same program that was used for jailbreak, will bypass the Apple logo and boot the device again.

The first tethered jailbreak was GeoHot’s blackra1n, the first of its kind that could jailbreak iOS 3.1.2.

WHY TETHERED?

This requires a little in-depth explanation, and an understanding of how jailbreaking works. Apple’s iOS is a brilliant structure constructed in layers, with iBoot being the lowermost layer in the chain of trust. Every iDevice runs with a processor chip, which is governed by the iBoot code, the same code that initiates the boot sequence. iBoot itself has a signature check built-in which, at the time of boot, verifies that the software installed on the device is genuine, non-modified Apple programming. In the entire iOS structure, there is a signature check at every level, enabling Apple to ensure that only their signed (or approved) software can be run on any iDevice.

A jailbreak software uses a loophole in Apple’s signature checking process and injects a certain code that allows unsigned software to be loaded, bypassing the check and balance sequence. While these exploits may exist at any level, the best scenario would be finding an exploit in iBoot, so that the signature check fails right from the booting sequence. The biggest advantage of a bootrom exploit is that it cannot be closed with a new software release – bootrom can only be modified with a hardware revision.

Such an exploit was discovered prior to iOS 3’s release, codenamed 24kpwn, which allowed the jailbreak software to inject 24kb of modified code into iBoot, and iBoot would consider that perfectly normal. This particular string of ‘injected’ code would bypass the signature check and everything thereon became a breeze.

Apple was quick on the uptake, and at that time the new line of iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS contained a patched iBoot, rendering existing jailbreaks useless. When GeoHot released his blackra1n tool, he managed to find a way to bypass iBoot’s security check, but only if the device was connected to a PC and the jailbreak software actually communicating with the device. Hence the first tethered jailbreak was born.

As of today, there have been a few tethered jailbreaks – QuickPwn, purplera1n, blackra1n, and sn0wbreeze 2.0, which jailbreaks iOS 4.1 on devices older than iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.

IS TETHERED JAILBREAK GOOD?

On the whole, no. A tethered jailbreak means every time there is a need to reboot your device, you’ll lose jailbreak. What’s worse, not only will you lose jailbreak, your device will not boot either. Consider yourself to be traveling, and your phone’s battery runs out – now you’re practically left with an expensive paperweight unless you can find a PC with the right jailbreak tool available. So, tethered is not good.

It is worth mentioning here that in case of a tethered jailbreak, even though you cannot boot your device without a PC, that doesn’t mean you’ll lose your apps or customizations. The only reason a tethered jailbreak requires the assistance of a computer is because iBoot cannot pass the installed OS as genuine; it reads it as a modified (unsigned) one. The tool in your PC overrides iBoot itself, and so, the OS remains as it was before, but you get the device booted.

WORKAROUND FOR TETHERED JAILBREAK

When GeoHot’s blackra1n tethered jailbreak was the only solution for devices running iOS 3.1.2, an interesting device with the name of iDongle surfaced that connected to the iDevice’s dock and rebooted a tethered-jailbreak device preserving the jailbreak. The device worked only with iOS 3.1, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2, although a USB-based upgrade was possible.

SO WHAT IS UNTETHERED JAILBREAK?

Pretty much everything other than the four tools I mentioned above. Technically, an untethered jailbreak is one in which your device stays jailbroken even after a full reboot, and iBoot is bypassed normally. Examples of such jailbreaks are numerous, ranging from redsn0w to greenpois0n and beyond, which all jailbreak the device permanently without need of support from any other medium. Generally, these jailbreak tools use such an exploit that bypasses the iBoot sequence on its own, hence eliminating the need to connect with a computer.

THE BOTTOMLINE

As of now, there is no device that requires a tethered jailbreak. There have been rumors off and on, especially the latest bootrom exploit SHAtter was anticipated to be tethered, but in the end it didn’t prove to be so. However, as the development continues on the iOS scenario, and new devices keep coming, it may not be long before we get to see another tethered jailbreak.

Some Breaking News for Nokia S60 mobile users. The very frustrating Security Symbian Signed v9.2 platform was suspended Hacks.
Do not do more, you need tools such as SignSIS & DevCertRequestControl a certificate for the installation of applications. Users can now bypass Symbian Signed certification to verify and install everything that is not signed or signed himself or software applications.

When installing the operating system Symbian OS native packages (. SISX files) on a mobile device Nokia S60, the code for carrying out the installation (installing software, sometimes as SWI) bed Top settings in a file policy ROM (swipolicy.ini) to determine how the installation should proceed. Swipolicy.ini is configured so, an equipment manufacturer before sending the aircraft. The phone is in swipolicy.ini z: \ system \ data \.

Click For more information, please read the entire Post.

This hack involves a change in swipolicy.ini the image of the ROM, if you have a firmware update with a hex editor, then still camera flashes with the evolution of permits. You can read the article in the Symbaali blog.

Important Note: This hack is not for the timid and kind-hearted, we know that a few brick models, a verification CRC. Whatever you do, according to the article below at your own risk and responsibility.

+ First S60 you are updating your mobile phone using software update tool.

It is + Download binary images on C: \ Documents and Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \ Nokia \ Nokia layer \ A \ nsl_service_module_00001 \

+ Open the image of the ROM in a hex editor, as WinHex

+ Java J2ME MIDlets, look for the following / string (can be found with the search string midp2_rp.xpf near offset 0 × 2310000):
+ Now start updating new software and should resume flash-S60 with the new device without permits. You can test whether the hack was a success by installing a Java midlet J2ME. They have more options permission Application Manager (Choose the midlet, then click Open).

Nokia S60 + SISX file, find the swipolicy.ini image in the ROM (which can be found with the search for User Capabilities, nearly offset offset 28251550):
+ Plus you'll need to download a free tool for Windows dd that by a

+ Then unpack the original text with dd, by typing this command:

dd if = of = phonemodel.C01 filename.txt skip count = 28251550 = 648 = 1 bs

+ Do you think that if it has variables and with the values of its own image of the ROM. The census variable is the size of your swipolicy.ini Flash ROM image from AllowUnsigned to phonetsy.
Given that one of comments, you can also define Capabilities = All users of full capacity Set.
Make sure swipolicy.ini fragment with the original count bytes of size as you were before. If there are more than size, you'll have maybe a few not delete important attribute that oid = 1.2.3.4.5.6 at your own risk, to ensure that the results count bytes. NOTE: Make sure the size of filename.txt in Windows Explorer before importation.
dd if = of = filename.txt phonemodel.C01 seek = 28251550 count = 648 = 1 bs

Again, recall the place of research and are among the variables in your ROM.

+ Now, a new portable flash with NSU, as you did before. You will find other features that you are not a developer with a certificate.
Unlocking is the opening of a phone to allow it to use any network, and removing the restriction that the original network placed on there. Several reasons for doing this are: Cheaper on another network, the phone is cheaper on a network but you don't want to use that network, the phone is moving country (be aware, some countries including Spain outlaw the unlocking of phones) or a person just want different networks open on their phone.

There are a lot of phones on the market today that cannot be unlocked yet, and there are a lot of people scamming and making money from this. I hope to mainly cover the basics in this thread, if you have any questions that aren't covered, please PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Also, please remember most phones cannot be unlocked for free. A lot of time, dedication and work go into the development of software to give you the freedom to escape your current network, so don't be surprised if the only answer you get is, "See a professional to get this model unlocked".

There are three major groups for Nokia's as far as unlocking is concerned.
All DCT3 phones can be unlocked remotely provided that the codes haven't previously attempted. If they have, you'll need professional tools to get them unlocked, I recommend paying a specialist to do it (much cheaper then buying the kit) if this is the case.
DCT4
All DCT4 phones can be unlocked remotely provided that the codes haven't been previously attempted. If they have, you'll need professional tools to get them unlocked, I recommend paying a specialist to do it (much cheaper then buying the kit) if this is the case.
BB5
Most BB5 phones have been cracked or are close to being cracked. There are no BB5 phones that can be done by code, and if you ask in the forums (http://www.zedge.net/forum), your thread will be linked to this one and locked, or deleted. BB5 phones include:

- Nokia 3250 5200 5300 5500 5700
- Nokia 6125 6126 6131 6136 6233 6234 6270 6280 6288 6500 Classic 6500 Slide 6630 6680 6681 6682
List gathered from various sources, if your model isn't listed here and is fairly new, it's safe to assume it is BB5. If you are still unsure, please post and ask, but make it clear you have looked at this list and I'll update it! The current process is risky, involved, usually expensive and very difficult for these models, still best to try through your operator. Please note well that the unlock not only depend on the model number, but the version number too. To get these phones unlocked, visit a local unlocking centre or contact the guys at nokiafix.com for more details.
Sony Ericsson
Most SE phones can be unlocked, however I don't know of any code generators, so they must be done via cable/software. I highly recommend taking these to professionals that insure against damage, as even I get these wrong sometimes.
Major groups in Sony Ericsson are:
DB2010 - CID16
DB2010 - CID29
DB2010 - CID36
DB2010 - CID49

DB2020
CID49 can be done without issues
CID51 may need to be re-flashed, hence data loss
CID52 can be problematic, but usually fine
CID53 same as CID52

Motorola
All motorola's that I know of can be done, however some are more complex then others. Motorola codes are not generated using the IMEI, but they can be obtained using it. I personally have access to a code record system for 2G handsets, however I cannot generate them, and this is a paid service. Otherwise, feel free to post for more information on unlocking yours. As a general rule though, codes are not free but depending on your model there may be unlocking software available (again, not necessily free).

Samsung
Some Samsung's can be unlocked using generic codes, there is a thread in this forum with all the codes found up to date. However, these only seem to work on older models, and can kill phones if not used properly. Otherwise, all other models can only be done by professionals.Sharan Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06646442569411824786noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9111000573835865776.post-79365580231055570922010-02-16T03:41:00.000-08:002010-02-16T03:41:48.689-08:00What is Phone Simlock ?

What is simlock ?
What sorts of lock are there?

1. Lock phone to SIM card.
If your phone is locked to the SIM you cannot use any other SIM than the one you have: SIM broken makes phone useless. A SIM Card Lock is a lock programmed into a mobile phone which only allows one company's SIM to be used in the phone. The reasoning behind this is to keep your custom to that network. Simlocks are also referred to as SP Locks or Network locks. Once your simlock is removed you can place any (dependent on phone model) SIM card into it including foreign networks if you take the phone abroad.
2. Lock phone to Operator (Network or Service Provider).
If your phone is locked to an operator, you can use any SIM from this operator in your phone. You can switch between contract and prepaid as you wish, but not to a different operator.

3. Lock phone to CODE (Product Lock or Offer Lock).
If your phone is locked to a code, the phone checks a special "password" (GID) on the SIM that must match your phone. Providers often use different passwords for contract and prepaid.

So unlocking is: Removing the locks on the phone so you can use the phone with any compatible SIM Card. Unlocking will allow you to use other service providers' SIM card. For example if you have an ABC GSM phone you can only put in an ABC SIM card, but if you unlock you can put in DEF XYZ, etc.

How can I verify whether my phone is SIM Card Locked?
If you place any card other than the one that the phone accepts, then you will get a message such as 'Incorrect Card', 'SIM Card not accepted', 'Enter Special Code', 'Enter NCK' or similar.

So unlocking is tampering with the software?
It can be, most programs to unlock on the internet change some data in the phone software other just make a log and calculate unlock code. You will have to type the unlock code with special code in your phone to unlock it.

Why should I unlock/upgrade my cellphone?
First of all we will give the reasons to unlock your cellphone: There are several providers in every country. A provider is a company from which you are using its network to communicate. Of course these providers are not all the same the one is better then the other. And ALSO the one is more expensive then the other. So if you buy cheap phone (that mostly comes with cheap provider because providers give money to make phones cheaper for us, and if the provider isn't that good, think about no network in distant places or in buildings, the provider has to find other way to get customers so they do it with making there mobiles cheaper) and then buy lose SIM card from better provider and you put in that SIM the phone says: 'SIM Card not accepted'.... (we are talking about prepaid phones here!!) Now there is the unlocking part :) When it is unlocked (or not locked, if you have contract your phone will likely not to be locked) you can put ANY SIM Card in it that you want.

Now why should you upgrade your phone?
# To get rid of software bugs
# To get new/extra functions
# To improve existing features
Adding A New Infra Red Device To Tour PC

This procedure assumes that the infrared device is connected to a serial port on your computer. Use this procedure only if Windows did not automatically install an infrared device when you turned on your computer. Typically, Universal Serial Bus (USB), PCMCIA, and other Plug and Play-compliant infrared devices are automatically detected and installed.

To add a new infrared device:
01. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add Hardware.
02. The Add Hardware Wizard starts.
03. Click Next.
04. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.
05. In the Installed hardware list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
06. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), and then click Next.
07. In the Common hardware types box, click Infrared devices, and then click Next.

Do one of the following:

01. If you do not have an installation disk for the infrared device, click the manufacturer of the device in the Manufacturer list, click the infrared device that best matches your hardware in the Infrared Device list, and then click Next.

02. If you have a manufacturer's installation disk for a compatible driver, click Have Disk. Insert the manufacturer's installation disk into the appropriate drive, and then click Next.
Follow the instructions that are displayed on the remaining pages of the Add Hardware Wizard to install the infrared device.

View the Properties of an Infrared Device
To use this procedure, there must be an infrared device installed on your computer. Note that the settings for the infrared device are configured automatically when you install the device, and typically do not have to be changed. To view the properties of an infrared device:

01. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Wireless Link.

02. Click the Hardware tab, click the infrared device for which you want to view properties, and then click Properties.

Configure a Serial Port for Infrared Communication
Your computer must support an infrared mode for a serial port. Use this procedure to install an IrDA transceiver that is provided by the computer manufacturer. To configure a serial port for infrared communication:

01. Start the BIOS configuration utility for your computer. Note that the method for starting the BIOS configuration utility varies from one computer to another. For many computers, you can start the BIOS configuration utility by pressing a function key that is indicated during the computer startup process. Some computers require that you start by using special configuration disks. For more information about how to enter BIOS Setup, see your computer manufacturer's documentation.

02. In the peripheral or serial port configuration section, change the mode to IrDA or Infrared.

Troubleshooting
Installing an IrDA transceiver disables the serial port. Do not attach a serial IrDA transceiver to a serial port.
Downloading & Installing Java Files

Java files can be a bit tricky at times. Most of the time, after you have downloaded and saved the java file on your pc, windows tend to change the icon & extension of the file into a .zip.

And this will led to those not familiar with this issue to extract the file. Once that is done, you will see a lot of folders and files. This is not the right way but ofcourse theres a way to get around this. Heres what you should do instead;

First, on your PCs, launch Windows Explorer and then select

Tools>Folder Options>View and "un-tick" the Hide extensions for known file type.

Now only can you see the full extension of a file and change the .zip into .jar and send it to your phone.

Repairing A Corruptted MMC

Correct Treatment of your MMC:

Physically, memory cards are quite fragile pieces of high technology, susceptible to damage from various silly things like excessive heat, condensation, strong magnetic fields, physical damage from rough handling and/or bending! (similar to most electronic devices then..)

Given the natue of mobile memory card products, they are constantly being taken in and out of some form of interface with a mobile phone, a camera, a laptop, or desktop PC, or a separate memory card reader. The number of different devices they have to be able to interact with is in the thousands.

It is not too surprisingly, then that sometimes the state of the file system on the memory card can get damaged.

This may happen for a number of different reasons, including:

> removing the card from a device whilst an application is trying to read/write to it.. (Just be patient...)
> battery drain on a device whilst in use meaning an insufficent voltage failure whilst writing to the card.
> a poor implementation of the MMC standard on the device using the card
> poor connectivity software drivers on the device or the Windows PC/Mac
> physical damage like card or device being dropped, bent, getting wet etc...
> lots of others i am sure..

As often as not, the problem is not terminal for your memory card, but just a software issue ( or in physical terms, it could be called "a temporary disalignment of the all the bits and bytes on the card").

The fix for this problem is the same as for any other file storage device (like a floppy or hard drive) with corrupt or invalid file system, namely; re-format the file system.

Re-Formatting your MobyMemory MMC Card:

It is possible that your mobile will offer you the option of formatting the memory card if it is found to be invalid. (However, the likes of Nokia nGage, Nokia 6600, and Siemens Sx1 often just prefer to reject the media as corrupted).

In that case, to format the card, you will need access to one or more of the following:

> A Windows PC or Mac.
> A separate multi-format memory card reader (verify that it is compatible with the MultiMediaCard -MMC- standard).
> (This can come in USB or PCMCIA flavours. If USB, try and ensutre it is a USB2 device.
> Alternatively, many of the newest laptop and desktop PCs now come with integrated Multi-format memory card readers.
> If you are using a separate memory card reader, then connect it up to your PC, and let windows recgnize the device through plug-and-play.

Now you can insert your MobyMemory card into the appropriate slot in the memory card reader. (Please note that because the MMC card is pretty much symmetrical it is very easy to insert it upside-down in the slot).

Open up [Windows Explorer] (or the equivalent for MAC users..sorry not well-versed in OS X).

There should be at least one icon visible for a [Removable Drive] in the list of available drives. (in fact, there is often a list of about 5 or 6 Removable drives, one for each of the different Memory card formats that your reader is compatible with).

Find the drive that is mapped to the MMC card by clicking on each in turn until it confirms there is a drive present. (Sometimes it is easiest to do this by trying a fully-functional MMC card in the MMC slot first so you can confirm which drive letter it is.)

(NB. It will always be labelled as a [Removable Drive], don't mistake it for one of your PC hard drives like [C:] drive, as that could be catastrophic later on!)

At this stage it may give an error message saying that the drive is unreadable.

By right-clicking on the drive letter, it will provide the option of formatting the drive.

Select format the drive, and the [Format Drive] dialog will appear (Double-check again to make sure it not your [C:] drive!).

There is only one setting to focus on in this page, and that is to ensure that the FileSystem selected for formatting is the [FAT] option (not FAT32, or NTFS or any other option)

(Note: All mobile phones, to my knowledge, and most cameras (etc..) use the FAT file system (or at least are compatible with it) on their memory card media.)

Now click on Format Now ( ensure [Quick Format] is not selected as this will not actually restore the file system space byte by byte, but only resets the header information so the drive thinks its empty again. This may not be enought to solve your corruption problem.)

The PC will now - hopefully!- chug away happily until it has restored the memory card space back to its original configuration (of course, any information on there is long gone by now!).

If you recieve an error message back from the [Format Now] request, then your problem may be more permanent, and not just a software issue. In this case, it may still respond to a format request in a different memory card reader or device.

If you believe it to be a failure of manufacture, then the warranty on the card offers the prospect of a replacement card, subject to a confirmation of the fault upon return of the goods.

Increase Your MMC Space

Your files in MMC are stored in multiple (disk) blocks.
So if you format using 16K block, the space used will be 16K eventhough your file is just 1K.

If you buy MMC, it is usually preformatted with 16K block. Therefore alot of space is wasted as most installed program files are usually less than 2K.

You will need a card reader to do this:-

1. Connect card reader and copy all your files in the MMC to computer disk. (Make sure you set the show all/hidden/os files to "on")

2. Do a format of the MMC using command line "format" and use the /A=size option.

Alternative, you can use the Disk Management in Adminstrative Tools to format. Make sure you select FAT. For 256MB MMC, smallest block you can use is 4K, 128MB is 2K, 64Mb is 1K and 32MB is 512B.

(Note: You cannot use the phone "format MMC" to do this as the format just clear the allocation table and does not change the block size)

3. Copy back all files to MMC.

Now you will find that you will have more space.
256mb MMC got back 30+ mbs
Bluetooth Connection Guide

This is a "How To" for Connecting the Nokia Series 60 device (Nokia 7650, 6600, 3650, 3660 etc...) via Bluetooth TM with the Windows Widcomm software used by TDK, Billington, MSI and others Bluetooth USB Vendors. The guide was created with the 7650 hadset but the steps are similar for other Series 60 devices and have been checked with the 3650 and 6600.

1.Pairing the computer and the Series 60 Handset
Pairing is the process of swapping pass keys and setting up a trusted connection between the Bluetooth USB adapter / card connected to the PC and the 7650 handset. Save any files and close any applications you may have been working on.

2. Set up Bluetooth TM on the 7650 by going to the Main Menu, selecting Connect and then Bluetooth.

3. Make sure the Bluetooth option is On and My Phone's Visibility is Shown to all. Remember what is in My Bluetooth Name - or edit it to one of your choice - this is what your 7650 will be seen as by other Bluetooth TM devices.

4. Right Click on the Bluetooth Icon in the system tray, on the menu that appears go to Setup and then click on Security.

5. A window appears and all being well the right hand pane will have your 7650 (titled what ever you have entered into the phone's My Bluetooth Name entry). If nothing appears click Refresh and your phone should then appear. Highlight the 7650 and click Execute Pairing.

6. A window will pop up asking for a PassKey. Enter in a numeric only passkey and click OK.

7. On the 7650 a screen pops up asking you to enter a passkey - key in the same number you just typed into the PC.

8. By default any connections from your PC to the 7650 must be manually accepted on the 7650. You have an option to set up a connection from the PC to your 7650 as authorized, this means when you connect from the PC to the phone it won't ask you if it's ok and will connect automatically.

9. To set it as automatic: On the 7650 in the Bluetooth TM Setting Screen, you joystick right to the Paired Devices screen, highlight the Computer you just paired with and press Options, select Set as Authorized and Yes. You will then see a padlock icon beside the paired device - this device will no longer require manual authorization for connections to the 7650.

Now you should set My phone's visibility to Hidden - so that unknown devices searching won't see your phone. You can still be connected to by any paired devices. Remember to switch it to Visible if you want to pair with a new device or receive a file / business card from someone with an unpaired device.
Manually make a serial connection to the Series 60 Handset to get the mRouter connection started:

1. To get a connection working you need one last step - you need to connect to the 7650's Bluetooh Serial port from the PC.

2.Right Click on the Bluetooth TM Icon in the system tray, on the menu that appears go to Services and then click on Bluetooth TM Serial Port. Select Find Devices from the sub menu. (A shortcut to this connection will be created so next time you will have the 7650 listed in Bluetooh Serial Port submenu to save the next step).

3. Select the 7650 from list and click Connect.

4. A window will appear telling you the connection is starting.

5. If you have not set the 7650 to automatically authorize a connection from this computer be ready to accept the connection request on the phone. If you have set it to automatically authorize then you won't be asked.

6. You should also see the Bluetooth icon on the 7650 start to flash showing a connection take place. Then you may get an error on the PC saying it can't connect and/or a message saying there is a Connection on COM0 (you can check the box to stop this appearing again), you can just ignore these message(s) for a minute. (Click OK once the mRouter connection is made described below.)

A couple of seconds later the mRouter icon in the tray shows a connection in starting and then a connection being made. You can see also the active connection in the mRouter Connection Properties. The PC Suite application should then be ready for use.

Handy Tips

- At the top of the main-menu and every folder, the keys 1 to 9 are shortcuts to the icons 1-9

- A shortcut on the left menukey in standby-mode will take more time to open than a shortcut on the right menukey. Reason: The left key is also used for the keylock so it shortly waits for pressing the * button.

- While writing text press and hold "#" to switch between Alpha mode and Number mode. You can also press a key long to insert its number.

- In standby-mode, press and hold 0 to launch your wap home page.

- If you have your keylock activated just press the on/off button to turn on your backlight to look at the time when it's dark without having to unlock the keypad.

- To keep the backlight on, run Torch (freeware), press and hold the Menu button and go somewhere else on the phone.

- To check your current firmware version simply type *#0000# in standby screen.

- To check your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) type *#06# in standby screen.

- To check your Bluetooth device address type *#2820# in standby screen.

- Start up in Safe Mode (no 'auto start' apps will be running): Hold down the pencil key when you turn on the phone and hold it on until you have to enter your PIN code.

- Format the phone memory by typing *#7370# in standby screen.

- In standby mode,
45# + dials the number on your sim in memory slot 45.
50# + dials slot 50 and so on.
If you short-circuit theleft middle and right pins on the bottom of the phone with all touching each other, the connections nokia software hangs! The profile "Headset" will be activated.
Before you do this just activate the "Automatic Answer" in the headset profile and set the ringing volume to "Mute".

Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room. Just place it under a table in a room and call it.
But there are hidden risks, and you could lose out on useful features too.

News reports have suggested that in the recent terrorist attacks on Mumbai, the attackers were allegedly using Chinese cell phones. This was recently proven in court using the handsets' IMEI numbers, which were cross checked against the manufacturer's records. Whenever a call is made from any handset, its unique 16-digit IMEI number appears on the service provider’s network logs, and it can use this number to pin-point the handset’s location within a one-kilometer radius.

Imported phones without IMEI numbers (or which all use the same one) were allowed to operate on Indian networks till earlier this year, but the government's Department of Telecommunications banned them earlier this year. Such phones can be used to get away with serious crimes, but there are also thousands of genuine users who bought these phones because they are so cheap. The ban makes their phones useless, but from a business point of view it also affects the importers of the Chinese and Taiwanese cell phones have been flooding the Indian markets.

Current statistics show that there are 25 million cell phones in use on Indian networks which do not report IMEI numbers. So these phones, which are often cheap knockoffs of genuine cell phone brands, might have been really tempting for the masses, they are a major concern for security. Regardless, they are still available in markets scattered across all towns and cities in India.

In order to get a quick idea of the status of these phones, we headed out to Manish Market, one of Mumbai’s biggest sources of imported electronics. Coincidently, on our way there, our cab driver was watching Doordarshan on his "TV phone" resting on the dashboard. His phone could not only be used for watching a cricket match, but could make calls, exchange SMSes, transfer files via Bluetooth, play MP3 files, take photos, and basically do everything that a multimedia phone is capable of. The cabbie had paid only around Rs 5,000 for the gadget. He didn't even get a bill for it. We’d be least surprised if this TV Phone did not have a valid IMEI number.

users can receive the geographic location, the address anywhere in the country of the nearest cell tower beaming to their stolen phone

On reaching the market we saw phones from random and uncommon brands, cheap knockoffs of genuine and popular brands, and finally genuine second-hand phones. The first category was the most interesting, where we saw brand names like YXTEL, CLOVE, TOP-1, LXD and some simply had ‘Bluetooth’ printed on them. These have completely unique designs, unusual keypads and usually large touchscreens. The most striking thing about these phones is the value for money that they offer. They might not be very usable or refined, but the majority of them are priced between Rs 2,800 and Rs 5,000. A ‘Hi-Phone’—an Apple iPhone knockoff—is available for as little as Rs 4,500, with most of the features in it, including a somewhat functional touch interface. Phones as cheap as Rs 2,800 also include features such as video recording, FM radio, large screen, Bluetooth, games, unique design, loud speaker, MP3 player, and above all good call and sound quality.

On a side note, phones are just the tip of the iceberg, there are MP3 players, DVD players, portable video cameras, digital cameras, you name it and you’ll find it. It is truly engaging to see the variety of Chinese products available, especially portable gadgets. The most shocking part is the endless rows of Chinese mobile phone knockoffs of brands such as Nokia, Apple, Samsung and many more. The shopkeepers’ audacity is even more amusing; they sell them by telling their customers exactly which models they have imitations of. Some retail shops are quite large and some are as tiny as fruit-carts.

The shopkeers also mostly insist that the phones have IMEI numbers—although whether these are valid and unique cannot be proven. In addition, their overall build quality isn’t very good, keypads are awkward to use, and even the touch screens are nowhere near as sensitive as the ones on their genuine counterparts. Video and photo quality is just about average. More importantly, these phones don’t have regular software. They use their own OSes (often simple Java interfaces) and therefore installing regular applications will usually not be possible. They don’t offer any warranty or support, no bill and no service centers. Most of these phones can be bought without any paperwork and no questions are asked.

The importance of the IMEI

Even if your phone doesn't stop working one day, a unique and valid IMEI number is important. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity, and the 16-digit IMEI code is physically and digital marked on all GSM and UTSM (the third-generation telecommunication technology) devices. This code helps network service providers to allow or block service to devices. If you type *#06# on a handset, the number displayed on screen is the IMEI code, which should be unique to that particular handset. This code is like a fingerprint of a cellphone. Whenever a call originates from a device, this number is registered at the network provider's back end, so the handset can then be authenticated. Any interaction, be it phone calls, messages or data transfer, gets mapped to this code. That's how you can just call the service provider and ask them to block the phone by using the IMEI code when it phone is lost or stolen, to make it unusable. Registered users can even track their phone if it gets lost or stolen. Micro LMTS, where LMTS stands for Lost Mobile Tracking System, is a stealth application which not only finds lost cell phones but can also alert users via SMS if the SIM card of the phone is changed. Furthermore, the message also contains the new phone number and its location, helping users to get it back.
Even the use of personal data can be prevented by deleting contacts, SMSes and other multimedia content with the help of alternate numbers that are registered and coupled with the registered phone and SIM which is lost. Quite interestingly, users can even receive the geographic location, the address anywhere in the country of the nearest cell tower beaming to the stolen phone with the newly inserted SIM card.
