Reset Nokia Lock Code without any software

There have been several tutorials and questions on internet that shows how to reset the security locking code of your Nokia Symbian Phones. But honestly speaking, non of the tutorial works. Because, most of them keeps talking about Master Code security code which really does not work in every phone.

The technique behind Master code is that, every phone has unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and with the help of this number, a specific software will calculate your so called master code. This might work in some phone but not always. Because how can you be so sure about that the Master Code generated is the correct one? If it has been the straight right security code then there won’t be any use of security code. Because, Lock codes and master codes are meant for security purpose in case if it’s stolen or lost some where.

Therefore this might not be much practical. The good thing you can do is, contact the authorized service center to have your code reseted. If you don’t want to do that then still you have a choice left. That is, you’ll have to hack the phone. Don’t worry with the term ‘hack’ we’ll do nothing like hacking.
We’ll use a backdoor to reset the security code. This might be illegal, but can be helpful if you badly need it.

Here is how you do it.

First of all download the security code hack patch from here.
Once you have downloaded it extract it with your favorite unzipper.  Now reate a new folder ‘Recogs‘ in your desktop.

Once it has been created, copy the THC-NOKIA-UNLOCK.MDLfile from the extracted file to Recogs folder.

Drag or copy the file to Recogs folder

Now take out the memory card from your Nokia phone and plug it in to you card reader and open it from my computer.

Once you open go to System folder. If it is not there then don’t worry it is hidden folder. To go to System folder, type ‘system‘ next to your card location as shown in the image below (in this tutorial the drive letter for the memory card is H:).

Instantly you’ll be inside system folder.

Once you are inside the system folder copy the Recogs folder from desktop to the system.

Finally when it’s copied, eject your memory card and insert it to your phone which you want to unlock. Once you insert the memory card, it will automatically start the unclocker file and resets the Locking code.

Once it succesfully resets your Locking code, it will prompt a message on white screen with, ‘Press a Key’.
Press any key and your code is rested to 12345. Now you can change it any time.

Thats it, you are done. No need of any electronic device, no need of any data cards no need of any complicated and insecure software and the phone is yours again.

HTC's Sensation - Review, Specifications

Introduction

It's shaping up to be super-phone season. Two dual-core behemoths, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the LG Optimus 2x, led the way for a little something called the iPhone 4. And it only gets better with HTC's Sensation, just launched, which also features a dual-core processor and the latest version of their Android skin -  HTC Sense 3.0 - combined with the goodness of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Hardware and Styling

HTC calls the Sensation a super-phone and whatever we have seen of the device definitely lives up-to its 'super-phone' billing.  The large 4.3 inch Super LCD display has a starring role, boasting of a qHD resolution of 960x540 protected by Gorilla glass.  The device features very traditional HTC design, which is quite mundane, but in spite of this it gives us an immense sense of quality thanks to its sturdy uni-body construction. There are four touch based Android controls on the bottom end of the display and the 1.3 megapixel front facing camera on the top end. HTC has also elevated the overall chassis from the display, providing an extra layer of protection for those users who'd like to rest the device on the display.

The rear of the device houses the 8-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, but this is just the tip of the ice-berg as the whole battery compartment comes with a tri-colored cover made up of a rock solid plastic composite.

Multimedia

First up is the 8-megapixel camera which has a dual-LED flash and is also capable of shooting 1080p video at 30 frames per second. HTC has been gloating about the camera's speed with a quick shoot functionality baked in to the camera. This, however, is not new and these features have been seen before on other devices. The main problem is that HTC claims it is very fast but, in our opinion, the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S2 have faster shutter speeds.

Unfortunately, this experience was also somewhat inconsistent, as the device would refuse to play High Definition (HD) Divx video but  managed to play HD Mpeg-4 videos very smoothly.

Essential Apps

HTC always packs their devices with their own apps and the Sensation is no different. Besides these, we also get the standard suite of Google apps such as Maps, Gmail, Latitude, YouTube, and Search.

HTC has packed in their acclaimed social network aggregator 'Friend Stream' which collects all social networking info, Email info and messages in one interface. This one leads the social aggregators' pack and even bests Samsung's Social Hub.

HTC also provides us standard Facebook and Twitter apps, which do the needful. Nothing special here, but none the less very important to have, specially for those people who don't like all their information in one interface.

HTC has, as usual, put in their Weather application, which has some very cool animations. But apart from this, it does little to improve functionality, but then again it was pretty polished from the beginning.

HTC has included an upgraded Email application, which offers Microsoft Exchange access. This application is not the standard Email app, which ships with Android. HTC has made some subtle enhancements which improve usability.

Hardware and Styling

It is also home to a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash. The phone itself is like an expensive piece of jewellery. The gorgeous 'Retina Display' and the home button dominate the front.  The sides are tapered with a steel band, which also doubles as the dreaded antenna, which caused the infamous iPhone death grip issue which was causing call drop outs in the US.

On the right side is the micro-sim port while on the left Apple has provided the redesigned volume buttons (previously a volume rocker) and the mute button. The top of the device is home to the 3.5mm port and the power button while the bottom houses the 30 -pin connector slot.

Interface

The iPhone is home to the simplest smartphone OS in the industry, the iOS. So simple to use is the iOS that this reviewer's eighty-year-old grandfather dumped his laptop for the iPad, which also uses the iOS.

The home screen of the iOS provides a wall full of all the applications installed on the device. There is also a Mac OSX like dock which allows four apps to be opened simultaneously and which can be customized by each user. Just swipe towards the right to reveal the other apps. Unlike other operating systems there is no menu button to reveal all the apps, the apps are just there.

This user interface works since it has no learning curve, making the iPhone a plug and play device for novices.

There are no widgets in iOS. This is a disadvantage as one has to no way of viewing information without entering an app - cue the Weather and Stock apps. On Android, widgets act as shortcuts and provide considerable information. Similarly, the tile interface on Windows Phone provides similar access to information.

iOS, in its current form, has a fairly bad notifications system which is very intrusive in nature. For example, with news app open in the background while playing Angry Birds, the app will flash the notification right in the middle of the screen pausing the gameplay. This happens even if the user does not want to view the notification. Fortunately, iOS 5 - which was shown off at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference in June - will have a revamped Android like notifications system along with other goodies.

The onboard keyboard is the best virtual keyboard on the market. Keys are well spaced and OS provides brilliant auto correction abilities.

Multimedia

The iPhone is the home to the world's best MP3 player, the iPod. There is simply no arguing with this statement. It is definitely a multimedia leviathan.

Like all iOS devices, this contains a movie player too. But, the biggest disadvantage of this app is its lack of support for popular video formats. One has to go through a lengthy conversion process for videos.

The 3.4-inch display boasts of a 960x640 resolution, which is currently the highest among all smartphones. It even has an astounding pixel count of 326 PPI through which it gets its Retina moniker.

Apple has upgraded the camera of the iPhone with a 5-megapixel OmniVision sensor. The images are very vibrant and the color reproduction is very impressive.

As far as 720p video recordings go, the iPhone is right on par with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and the Nokia N8.

Another feature, which makes the iPhone a multimedia monster, is its 16GB and 32GB memory capacities. 16 GB should be enough for most but media gobblers would appreciate the 32GB capacity. Unfortunately, we don't get a memory card slot for expansion.

Performance

At launch, the iPhone 4 knocked the wind out of the competition with its blistering performance. This was possible because of the A4 processor, which is clocked at 1GHz and a meaty 512MB of RAM. We are told that Apple has under-clocked the A4 processor to 800 MHz, but it still scorches. Even today, in comparison to dual-core NVidia Tegra powered smartphones, the iPhone 4 feels like a screamer.

This is inherently because Apple develops its own software and hardware. The software is always in tune with the hardware, which helps Apple derive more performance from lesser hardware. The same cannot be said about the modern Android Smartphones, as all Android phones don't have a standardized hardware spec.

The call quality of the Airtel iPhone can be best described as average. We haven't really faced the now legendary 'death grip' issues but its still not the best calling experience. This could be a combination of factors involving the network and the Phone.

The iPhone surprised us with an impressive battery life which lasted a day, which include constant 3G or Wi-Fi, Web browsing and phone calls while playing multiple games. It was very impressive and easily bested the Android competition.

Price:
Price tag starting at Rs 34,500 for the 16Gb version and a ridiculous Rs 40,500 for the 32 GB.

Nokia N9 – Tech Specs and Release Details

Nokia N9 is among the latest gadget in streets currently and the tech specs seems to be cool as it’s Nokia’s first Intel MeeGo based smartphone. It seems that for its latest gem, Nokia really cared about the phone hardware unlike what it used to do with its previous high end phones.

The all new N9 announced last week got really good, in fact best hardware specs as compared to other Nokia high end phones available. But still not upto the mark as it doesn’t even reach near to what current generation phones of other companies are offering. Here is a short discussion what Nokia is offering with its N9.

Nokia N 9 Hardware

Nokia brought 1GHz CPU this time with Cortex A8 CPU, along side it comes with 1GB of RAM. That’s pretty old combo and was blooming last year and this year getting this combo is no brainier. There’s no dual-core antics and the single core is pretty weak, but is good if you look at the OS running on it.

The screen size has been increased a bit i.e 0.4inches and the new player comes with 3.9inch screen with same AMOLED display panel as that of Nokia N8. The display resolution is rapidly increased to 480 x 854 pixels.

Its obviously big in dimensions than N8 and has dimensions of 116.5 in height, 61.2 in width and 12.1 in depth. Wireless connectivity includes 3G support up to 14Mbps, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.
Unlike the N8, its not totally camera featured. This time the camera is reduced to 8 Megapixels which supports resolution of 3264×2448 pixels carried with auto focus as well as LED Flash. Yes, there’s also a secondary camera. Video recording still supports only 720p clippings at 30fps.

Phone is available in two storage option (internal storage) 16GB and 64GB there is no 32GB option and neither facility for installing additional microSD card for extra storage. That means, its iPhone here the internal memory is the final one.

Software

The phone comes with MeeGo OS v1.2  (Harmattan) looks similar to Symbian Anna but still no idea regarding that, time will clear everything.

Multimedia capabilities

The MeeGo OS loaded on N9 supports MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA/FLAC for audio playback and MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player for video playback. Along with that it comes with pre-loaded games like Angry Birds Magic (NFC), Galaxy on Fire 2, Real Golf 2011.

Battery Life

It comes with 1450mAh battery but as we didn’t get the hands-on battery performance we will clear the reports later but as stated by Nokia it provides Up to 380 (2G) and Up to 450h (3G) when on standby and Up to 11h (2G) and Up to 7h (3G) for talktime.

Conclusion

Nokia N9 looks similar to iPod Nano 6G, yes that’s small actually. Buying the phone right now won’t make any extra ordinary decision. The phone has old hardware which I used to review last year, even the camera is low and supports only 720p recordings. The storage options are really bad, 32GB was must option to be added. Plus its not going to hit India soon and only supports micro SIM card.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 To Jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G on iOS 4.x

Chronic Dev Team has just now released Redsn0w Version 0.9.6b2 for Windows as well as Mac OSX. Redsn0w is basically a lightweight, multi-platform jailbreaking, unlocking and customizing tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 1G, iPod touch 2G, and iPod touch 3G. This release of Redsn0w is specially targeted towards iPhone 3G users and iPod Touch 2G folks, waiting to jailbreak their devices on iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2 Beta.

it is also important to mention that Redsn0w actually upgrades your baseband while jailbreaking so ultrans0w unlock might now simply work. People relying on carrier unlock after jailbreak are requested to stay away from this build until there is a clear go ahead from Dev Team through their blog post.

Download PwnageTool 4.1 To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 On iDevices

Chronic Dev Team just released the new PwnageTool 4.1 that jailbreaks iOS 4.1 iPhone 4, 3g, 3GS along with iPod Touch 2G / 3G / 4G and AppleTV 2G. According to the official Dev Team Blog, couple of exploits namely Limera1n along with some other have been integrated within the package, making it the most powerful custom firmware iDevice jailbreak tool to date.

The jailbreak is untethered and categorically works on:
    • iPhone 4
    • iPhone 3G
    • iPhone 3GS
    • iPad [3.2.2 Firmware]
    • iPod Touch 3G
    • iPod Touch 4G
    • Apple TV 2
    PwnageToolAppleTV2_thumb1

This is what the Dev Team has to about the PwnageTool 4.1
PwnageTool allows you to restore to a custom IPSW file.  For instance, you can restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware while simultaneously maintaining your current baseband (and thus your ultrasn0w carrier unlock).  You can also add whatever packages you want in the “Expert” mode of PwnageTool, if you wish to pre-install Cydia packages.   iPhone 3G users get the additional benefit of selecting their own boot and recovery logos, and features like multitasking and battery charge percentage.
PwnageTool’s main advantage to ramdisk-based methods (limera1n, greenpois0n, redsn0w) is for unlockers — those that need to keep their current baseband and preserve their ultrasn0w unlock.  But in this new age of both bootrom- and userland-based exploits, it’s an excellent platform for continuing the jailbreak through all future firmwares.  More on this later!  In the meantime, please enjoy this free software and please provide any usage feedback in our comment section below…
The above statements clearly indicates that all those folks who rely on a carrier unlock are welcome to use this tool in order to jailbreak their iPhone 4, iPhone 3G and 3GS.

This tool, unlike previous releases, preserves the device’s baseband which is unlockable with Ultrasn0w.

PwnageTool, for now, is intended for MAC users only and we expect a non-mac version to make it out soon too.

Geohot released Limera1n just two days back on 10/10/10 spoiling the hard work of Chronic dev team. The team was heartbroken and left with two choices, either use the SHAtter bootrom exploit and implement Geohot’s bootrom exploit which was used in Limera1n, or go ahead and burn two bootrom exploits at once by releasing GreenPoison.

Burning two bootrom exploits at once means Apple will patch them quickly, thus slowing down future jailbreaks. So the team went with the decision to implement SHAtter bootom exploit instead. Today Greenpoison is out with this exploit which jailbreaks the following devices:
    • iPhone 4 / iPhone 3GS
    • iPod Touch 4G / iPod Touch 3G
    • iPad
As of now only Windows version of Greenpois0n is available. Mac version will be out soon.

What Is Tethered And Untethered iPhone Jailbreak

In the world of iPhone jailbreak and unlocking, two terms that often come up are tethered and untethered. While experienced users are already pretty familiar with what this means, it often boggles down novice users who are new to the jailbreak frontline. In this article we’ll explore what these term mean, why some jailbreaks are tethered, what are the advantages and disadvantages, and what is the current status of iOS devices when it comes to jailbreaking.

    WHAT IS TETHERED JAILBREAK?

Tethered literally means ‘attached’, and this is exactly what these kinds of jailbreaks are. In definition terms, a tethered jailbreak is one in which a jailbroken device cannot reboot (not from standby, but from complete power off) unless it is attached to a computer. Such a device, if powered off, will go into recovery mode (or recovery loop) infinitely when rebooted unless it is attached to a computer and the same program that was used for jailbreak, will bypass the Apple logo and boot the device again.

The first tethered jailbreak was GeoHot’s blackra1n, the first of its kind that could jailbreak iOS 3.1.2.

    WHY TETHERED?

This requires a little in-depth explanation, and an understanding of how jailbreaking works. Apple’s iOS is a brilliant structure constructed in layers, with iBoot being the lowermost layer in the chain of trust. Every iDevice runs with a processor chip, which is governed by the iBoot code, the same code that initiates the boot sequence. iBoot itself has a signature check built-in which, at the time of boot, verifies that the software installed on the device is genuine, non-modified Apple programming. In the entire iOS structure, there is a signature check at every level, enabling Apple to ensure that only their signed (or approved) software can be run on any iDevice.

A jailbreak software uses a loophole in Apple’s signature checking process and injects a certain code that allows unsigned software to be loaded, bypassing the check and balance sequence. While these exploits may exist at any level, the best scenario would be finding an exploit in iBoot, so that the signature check fails right from the booting sequence. The biggest advantage of a bootrom exploit is that it cannot be closed with a new software release – bootrom can only be modified with a hardware revision.

Such an exploit was discovered prior to iOS 3’s release, codenamed 24kpwn, which allowed the jailbreak software to inject 24kb of modified code into iBoot, and iBoot would consider that perfectly normal. This particular string of ‘injected’ code would bypass the signature check and everything thereon became a breeze.

Apple was quick on the uptake, and at that time the new line of iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS contained a patched iBoot, rendering existing jailbreaks useless. When GeoHot released his blackra1n tool, he managed to find a way to bypass iBoot’s security check, but only if the device was connected to a PC and the jailbreak software actually communicating with the device. Hence the first tethered jailbreak was born.

As of today, there have been a few tethered jailbreaks – QuickPwn, purplera1n, blackra1n, and sn0wbreeze 2.0, which jailbreaks iOS 4.1 on devices older than iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.

    IS TETHERED JAILBREAK GOOD?

On the whole, no. A tethered jailbreak means every time there is a need to reboot your device, you’ll lose jailbreak. What’s worse, not only will you lose jailbreak, your device will not boot either. Consider yourself to be traveling, and your phone’s battery runs out – now you’re practically left with an expensive paperweight unless you can find a PC with the right jailbreak tool available. So, tethered is not good.

It is worth mentioning here that in case of a tethered jailbreak, even though you cannot boot your device without a PC, that doesn’t mean you’ll lose your apps or customizations. The only reason a tethered jailbreak requires the assistance of a computer is because iBoot cannot pass the installed OS as genuine; it reads it as a modified (unsigned) one. The tool in your PC overrides iBoot itself, and so, the OS remains as it was before, but you get the device booted.

    WORKAROUND FOR TETHERED JAILBREAK

When GeoHot’s blackra1n tethered jailbreak was the only solution for devices running iOS 3.1.2, an interesting device with the name of iDongle surfaced that connected to the iDevice’s dock and rebooted a tethered-jailbreak device preserving the jailbreak. The device worked only with iOS 3.1, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2, although a USB-based upgrade was possible.

    SO WHAT IS UNTETHERED JAILBREAK?

Pretty much everything other than the four tools I mentioned above. Technically, an untethered jailbreak is one in which your device stays jailbroken even after a full reboot, and iBoot is bypassed normally. Examples of such jailbreaks are numerous, ranging from redsn0w to greenpois0n and beyond, which all jailbreak the device permanently without need of support from any other medium. Generally, these jailbreak tools use such an exploit that bypasses the iBoot sequence on its own, hence eliminating the need to connect with a computer.

    THE BOTTOMLINE

As of now, there is no device that requires a tethered jailbreak. There have been rumors off and on, especially the latest bootrom exploit SHAtter was anticipated to be tethered, but in the end it didn’t prove to be so. However, as the development continues on the iOS scenario, and new devices keep coming, it may not be long before we get to see another tethered jailbreak.
